Support-Act is creating awareness among the stakeholders by conducting dialogues, meetings, workshops, training and advocacy rooted on evidence based toward pressing women’s issues. The key elements of the work of our organization are human trafficking control, a gender dimension to violence, the human rights for women and girls, and the access to justice for GBV survivors. We shall engage with the government and other relevant stakeholders in lobbying and advocacy to deal with the issues that are gender-equal and the human rights issues. Support-Act, as well, is currently cooperating with an informal group of women’s alliances to develop their network to hammer the women’s issues to the forefront at all levels – the grassroots and the national. Similar to other NGOs, Support-Act focuses on the prevention of Sexual and Gender Based Violence, the support and promotion of human rights, the capacity development of women and adolescent girls, groups/networks, women leaders and the improvement of access to justice facilities so as to improve women access to development and social justice. Women organizations including ours are active main players when implementing laws, policies, and programs that targets the development of justice within women and vulnerable groups.
The prevention, control and eradication of gender-based violence, trafficking, access to justice for GBV survivors, gender equality and women’s empowerment are sustainable development issues. We address these sustainable development issues via policy dialogues, community interaction as well as through sensitization, awareness-raising and advocacy campaigns. In order to consult and share views, meetings will be organized with government officials, experts, campaigners, human rights activists, law enforcement agencies, political parties, and civil society actors to discuss the problem and gather more solidarity and cooperation in supporting the issue-oriented advocacy. Action or evidence-based advocacy will be done to ascertain that development policies and agenda get integrated for the purpose of achieving gender equality and preventing gender-based violence and discrimination against women and girls. We are very little conversant with the development justice model, which enhances understanding of the need of putting an end to the patriarchal system and prevailing patriarchal mindsets of people and challenging existing social structures, realizing gender justice, providing sexual and reproductive justice, and granting human rights to all people. We shall depute our speakers to localize and internalize the spirit behind SDG from the perspective of gender equality focusing on the poor and marginalized women and girls.
